Buried In A Bog (A County Cork Mystery) by Sheila Connolly
is a 5 star read that mixes mystery, intrigue and new beginnings into a
fantastic book.
Maura Donovan lives in the United States with her Gran. She
has been raised by her since her Dad died and her Mom left. Gran came to the US
when Maura’s father was a lad from Ireland and
never really said much about her homeland so Maura was surprised when
Gran made her promise to go to Leep, County Cork Ireland after she was gone.
When Gran dies Maura takes what little she has and heads to Leep Ireland to
keep her promise. Little did she know what she would be getting into. Maura is
thrown into the middle of murder as well as the mystery of who her ancestors
were all while trying to fit in to and find her place in not just Ireland but
life itself. All this and trying not to be the killers next victim.
I loved this book and all the characters. I love that Maura
is independent and strong. She has courage to strike out on her own to a place
she knows nothing about. She doesn’t’ back down when she is the target for
someone wanting to harm her for reasons unknown, in fact she digs in her heels
and is more determined to stick it out.
I love how Sheila Connolly writes about Ireland in a way
that you can picture it as if you are seeing it for the first time right along
with Maura. She makes Ireland into being an important part of the mystery and
plot.
This book has mystery, intrigue, family history, surprises
you won’t see coming all tied up with a mystical beautiful land of Ireland,
what could be better?
I love this book and can’t wait to read the next one in the
series. I highly recommend it.
