Fantastic Read Oh Say Can You Fudge by Nancy Coco

Have you ever read a book that leaves you going Wow I love this book and leaving you wanting more? Well Oh Say Can You Fudge by Nancy Coco is that kind of book. I would give this book 5 plus stars and more.

This is the third book in the Candy Coated Series and each book has gotten better and better. Allie McMurphy is back with a bang in this book.  She is settling in to the Island community on Mackinac Island and trying so hard to be one of the Islanders. She is in charge of the fireworks show for the Fourth of July festivities but things start going wrong when her pyrotechnics guy and the fireworks are blown up. Can she find out who has done this terrible deed and get things back on track for the Fourth before anything else goes wrong?

This is the best book of the series so far, and the other two were really good. Allie is more sure of herself and starting to fit in better with the island people. I really like how she is becoming more secure and self assured in this book. She is smart, confident and yet still the same sweet, nice and at times still naïve person. There were times I felt like I do in a scary movie when I am thinking don’t go in there or run the  other way and the people just stand there or go in when they shouldn’t, I know you know what I mean, but then Allie and all the others have good instincts and deducing skills too. It is a good mixture of characteristics that makes Allie and the others, like Jen and Liz, who they are and who we love.

This book is more intriguing and tense than the others and I like that. The plot is great and there are so many different suspects that you won’t guess right away who is behind all the trouble or the reason it is happening.  The book has twists and turns that lead you down a path to whodunit, several believable suspects as well as some romance and a lot of characters that you can relate to.

I have always wanted to go to Mackinac Island and reading this book makes me want to go even more. The Island itself is a very important unique part of the whole plot and book. I love the closeness that Allie has with her friends and the quaintness of the hotel and fudge shop. Fudge making brings back some great memories of my Grandmother and me making fudge together. I love the recipes that are included and can’t wait to make the Pecan Pie fudge.

I cannot say enough how great this book is and it can be read as a stand-alone book but the other two books are good too. I hope you will run right out and get this book I am sure you won’t be disappointed.

As Gouda As Dead by Avery Aames Another Good Book in Cheese Shop Mysteries Series

As Gouda As Dead A Cheese Shop Mystery by Avery Aames is one you won't want to miss. The series just gets better and better with each book and this book is no exception. It is a great new addition to the series you won't want to miss. It has some great recipes included.

Love is in the air at Providence and every one is caught up in the festivities. Charlotte and Jordan are getting married, couples have come to take part in the Love festival activities so what could go wrong? Murder has a way of putting love on the back burner.  Charlotte has to help the police chief solve the murders so that things can move forward. Can she help solve the murders or will her snooping get her into trouble, will she become the next victim?

I love this book. It was a page turner that makes you not want to stop until you have finished it. I love the way you  can picture the town of Providence and the people. This could be a small town that is familiar to you and the people are so relatable. I know that some of the people in this book remind me of people I know and can relate to. This always is a plus when reading a book relating to the people and place. Who doesn't know a quirky Grandmere or a snooty control freak like Belinda Bell or Paige Alpaugh. I also like that Charlotte is a strong, clever, smart, and loving person that adds to the book. I love that the mystery winds around with twists and turns and multiple possible suspects that keeps you guessing till the end. I have to say I thought I had this one figured out but was surprised at the ending which always is good. I give this 5 Stars and can not wait to read the next book.

Maple Mayhem by Jessie Crockett My Review

19486380

Maple Mayhem A Sugar Grove Mystery by Jessie Crockett is a good cozy mystery set in Sugar Grove where Maple Syrup is what most people harvest. Dani and her family have been in the maple sugar business for generations and Dani is taking it one step further by trying to start a coop between all the growers to make it more economical for all of them. When someone starts sabotaging those who are joining the coop and then one of the biggest and loudest protesters of the coop is found dead Dani has to find out who is causing all the damage and who killed Frank before someone else is hurt and the coop falls apart.

Dani is a petite, spunky woman who loves her family and the maple syrup business. She reminds me of a woman I know who never backs down from a good battle and is a smart hard worker. Dani knows what she wants and works to get it even when obstacles, like someone vandalizing the coop members and even murder, are in her way. I love the close knit family and the small community setting too. It is written in a way that you almost can picture yourself right there in the town.

The book was good just a little slow at first. Wish that it had gotten to the murder sooner but once it did it picked up. The ending was somewhat of a surprise and the murderer was not who I thought it would be. If you like a good cozy with some twists in the plot then you might want to read this one. Has some good recipes too.

This is the second book in this series but it can be read easily without ever reading the first book without feeling lost.
