Cozy Mysteries To Try

I have been trying to catch up on posting. Today I thought I would post the reviews for the last three cozy mysteries I have read. Each one was well worth the read.

First is
Down In Flames A Webb's Glass Shop Mystery Book 6 by Cheryl Hollon.
Down in Flames by Cheryl Hollon sparks another good mystery with characters that are intriquing and can melt your heart. The way she uses down to earth people, flaws and all, and weaves them into the intricate pattern of the whole mystery is wonderful. Some of my favorite characters are Jacob and the twin sisters Rachel and Faith. They just add that special element to the story.  All of the people involved in the story bring a family like quality to the mystery and makes it special. If you like a good mystery, with fun loving characters, A unique setting and unexpected twists and turns then you will enjoy this book.

Jacob is a witness to a hit and run which throws him into shock complicated by his autism. Savannah has to help the police in finding out what Jacob knows and finding who hit and killed Nicole before that person comes after her and Jacob.  As she investigates she finds that maybe they didn't know Nicole as well as they thought. Is her secret life what got her killed?  Savannah wants to know but could her snooping be detrimental to her health too?  You will want to read the book to find out.

I enjoyed this book. It was a fast paced, intriquing read with elements of surprise to keep you reading. I think as you read it you are easily able to relate to all the characters and feel like you know them. I like a book that has characters that might be someone you know. If there was a down side it might be that it was a little wordy in a couple of places but not bad. I would of liked to have a little more complexity to the mystery but it was still good.

I would recommend this book and series if you like a good cozy mystery.

I received this book for my honest opinion and review.

Next one is
Clammed Up (A Maine Clambake Mystery Book 1) by Barbara Ross

This is a good read. What could be better than a clambake, day on a island and a boat ride except when there is a murder. This is a good mystery full of twists and turns as well as great characters and an interesting setting in Maine.

Julia Snowden comes home to save the family business but a murder on her families island puts that at risk. Can she finds out who the murderer is before she loses everything?

Just when I thought I had it figured out another wrench was thrown into the works, which is always good when you have to wait to the end of the book to find out the who, what and why.  I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

The last cozy is

The Inspector and Mrs. Jeffries A Mrs Jeffries Mystery Book 1 by Emily Brightwell

A fun, fast paced cozy mystery that reminds me a lot of Agatha Christies Miss Marple series.  It has a lot suspects to choose from, good characters and twists to keep you reading.

I just love Mrs Jeffries. She is a smart, kind and caring person. The Inspector is absent minded and bumbling but good hearted. Mrs Jeffries steers him in the right direction to solve the mystery with the help of all the other employees of the inspector Witherspoon.

If you enjoy a good mystery, with great characters and many suspects to choose from as well as a puzzle with so many possibilities then you will enjoy this book

Fun Quirky Mystery

Motorhomes, Maps and Murder doesn't disappoint. Once again I find myself wanting to have a cup of coffee with and join the Laundry Club ladies in solving the problems of Normal KY. That is one of things I like about this book and series is you feel like you could just step right in and be apart of this small town and people. If you add to that the mystery,  southern charm, friendship, great characters and the setting you have a page turning winner.

Mae once again finds herself right in the middle of a murder and all the mishaps going on. She just has a knack for getting into trouble without even trying. Hank her police boyfriend has his hands full with keeping her out of trouble and danger while trying to investigate and solve the murders but that isn't easy. Can they figure it all out before Mae gets in over her head or worse yet loses her campground or life?

This book had all the things I love a good mystery with side puzzles too, several suspects, strong characters,  a perfect setting and a surprise ending. I couldn't put it down and can not wait for the next book.

One of my favorite parts is when Mae gets arrested and when taken to the police station Hank's grandmother Agnes starts arguing and trying to get the handcuffs off Mae. I laughed because I could just picture the younger policeman trying to endure her wrath. I so enjoy these characters and can relate many of them to people I know like Queenie who with her my way or no way attitude reminds me of an Aunt of mine. This made the book so much more fun to read.

I love camping, history and small town living and this book includes all that and more. What a fun book and series you won't want to miss.

If you want a good mystery in a unique setting you have to read this book and series.

Fast Paced Intriquing Mystery

Death on Bull Path A Hamptons Murder Mystery by Carrie Doyle is a page turning, fast paced, intriquing mystery that keeps you puzzling to the end.

Antonia once again finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation when two Wall Street playboys are murdered. Her interest in solving this murder is because they had been at the bar in her Inn before meeting their demise.  She is pulled further into the mystery when the pushy obnoxious reporter Larry Lipper gets her to help him investigate. Add in the fact that some of the suspects show up at the Inn along with  a couple of suspicious people who aren't who they say they are and things get pretty interesting.  On top of all that Antonia's dangerous ex shows up to put fear  and trepidation into her life and add to the danger she is facing. Can she figure out who  the murderer is without Antonia becoming a victim too?

This book has so many things going on that it just keeps you wondering what is coming next. The author does a good job of having so many twists and turns as well as complicated circumstances that add tension to the story. So many times when you have so much going on it gets hard to keep it all straight and takes away from the story but not this author, she adds just enough to make it more exciting and interesting.  Her characters are relatable and interesting. Antonia is smart but vulnerable too. Joseph is kind, smart, wise and a good listener. Larry Lipper is so obnoxious but also a softy at times too. They all work together and make the story move.

If you like a tense, fast paced mystery with many twists and turns and a lot of suspects this book is for you.

I received this book for my honest opinion and review.

Intense Edge of your seat Cozy Mystery

Blanche Manos has done it again with Moonstruck and Murderous. This book grabs you from the very beginning and keeps you on the edge of your seat for a great roller coaster ride with ups and downs and alot of twists and turns. Ned once again finds herself in the middle of a murder where she is a target too. If that wasn't enough Moe Decker has escaped from prison and he has a bone to pick with Ned. The tension mounts as more mysterious people and things happen. Can Ned find who murdered Miss Evangeline, figure out the secrets of the old mansion and family all before Moe or the killer gets to her?

I just love everything about this book. Ned and all her friends are relatable and show the strength of faith, love and friendship. Ned always is curious and seems to find herself in sticky situations. There were times I wanted to tell Ned don't go there or watch out. I love old homes and buildings and learning their history so this story was right up my alley. All the characters are well developed and have their own unique personalities. The mystery is not only the murders but also finding out the past of the house, the Carver family and more history of Ednalee OK and it's families. I from the first meeting of Evangeline Carver's family found I didn't trust or like them much. They were greedy and just something off. I wasn't sure about Ken and the other's that worked on the estate either. This book just had so many possibilities and full of so many surprises.

I don't like to give anything away but when reading this book you have so many suspects and when you have it figured out you still have surprises you aren't expecting. This book is mysterious, intense and full of surprises. It is a book of friendship, history, love and faith. I highly recommend this book and series.

A Captivating Mystery found in Shattered at Sea by Cheryl Hollon

Once again Cheryl Hollon has us riveted to our seats in this captivating page turner in her new installment of her Webb's Glass Shop Mystery series in Shattered at Sea.

Savannah and Edward are going on a cruise where Savannah will do her glass blowing which sounds like a good time right? Not  when Ian, a cousin to Edward, goes missing and the other artists on board are hard to deal with and then Edward becomes a suspect in the whole mess which really puts a damper on the whole cruise. To salvage the cruise and her relationship Savannah has to solder all the pieces in the puzzle together and hopefully  clear Edward while figuring out what really happened.

I just love how we are joining some of the unique characters again to solve a mystery in a thrilling setting aboard a cruise ship while throwing so many curves and suspects in the mix to keep you enthralled till the end. I really enjoyed once again the way the author weaves  the glass art into the story which adds an extra uniqueness to it.

I found in this book that Savannah has grown more confident and has evolved more  to being a real leader and a smart, bold woman who uses her wits to solve the mystery with the help of her friends. Edward her boyfriend is a mystery himself, one where I find myself questioning his motives at times and wondering if he is hiding something but then I see the good in him and think he can't be bad. The relationship between him and Savannah is growing which is awesome but she has to help clear his name when he becomes the number one suspect. That always puts a damper on a relationship.

I think if you like a good riveting mystery, with strong characters and a unique setting then you will enjoy this book. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

A Scrumptious Beginning To New Series

A most FANTASTIQUE beginning to a new series in A Deadly Eclair A French Bistro Mystery by Daryl Wood Gerber. Right from the first I was intrigued with the plot, characters and setting. What is better than a Bistro in Napa Valley where the food, and ambiance makes you want to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or some wine while taking in the scenery only to be  interrupted by a murder.

Mimi has a wonderful Bistro and Inn that is backed by Bryan who is a generous entrepreneur that believes in Mimi's ability to make it a success. With her best friend Jo helping by running the Inn and her chef and staff at the Bistro turning out delicious food it seems her dream was coming true.  Then when Angelica niece to Bryan is having her wedding Mimi finds herself right in the middle of a murder investigation when Bryan is killed. Who would kill Bryan and why? It seems everyone might have a reason because at the dinner the night before he was killed it seems like he had an argument with almost everyone of the wedding party and these people seem to be holding secrets, and their true colors seem slip out during the investigation. Can Mimi clear herself as a suspect and figure out who killed her fri3nd Bryan, even though she is being threatened?

I really enjoyed this book. From the strong characters to the unique mystery and setting it is a delectable, keep you guessing, roller coaster ride to the very end. I couldn't put it down. It also has wonderful recipes too.

If you want a good mystery in a wonderful setting, with so many possibilities fo the outcome of whodunit then read this book. I don't think you will be disappointed. I can't wait to try some of the recipes either.

Another 5 star read and fun new series.

I received this book for my honest opinion and review.
